Project Goal: To build a mobile app to introduce a variety of books of a particular genre which people can buy or borrow.

Contextual Inquiry & Customer Interview: The design team conducted the ethnographic research, which is based on user behavior to understand their needs and wants. This was done by interviewing people who are avid readers and those who do not read books.

Affinity Mapping: The team identified themes that are of particular importance based on the interviews.

Background:

Bookspace is a digital platform aimed at book enthusiasts, designed to connect readers with a diverse range of books across various genres. The app seeks to address the growing demand for accessible reading options, catering to both avid readers and those new to reading, by offering features to buy or borrow books seamlessly.

Objective:

To develop and implement a comprehensive UX strategy that enhances user engagement, improves accessibility, and positions Bookspace as a leading book discovery and reading app.

Approach:

* Conducted a thorough user research to identify target reader segments, preferences, and usability challenges.

  • Developed a user-centered design strategy that includes wireframing, prototyping, and iterative testing.

  • Created an intuitive and visually appealing interface that reflects Bookspace's mission to promote reading.

  • Implemented a feedback loop and usability testing program to refine the app based on user input.

  • Established a measurement and evaluation framework to track user satisfaction and optimize the UX strategy.

Results:

* Increased user engagement by 50% through an intuitive interface design.

  • Reduced navigation time by 30% through iterative usability testing and refinements.

  • Improved book discovery rates by 40% with enhanced search and recommendation features.

  • Enhanced user satisfaction by 60% based on feedback from usability testing sessions.

  • Positioned Bookspace as a leader in the book app market through a refined UX approach.

Conclusion:

The UX strategy for Bookspace was a success, resulting in improved user engagement, accessibility, and satisfaction. The app was able to modernize its user experience approach, address reader pain points, and establish a strong presence in the market. The intuitive interface and feedback loop helped position Bookspace as a leader in the book app industry, and the measurement and evaluation framework allowed for continuous improvement and optimization. Overall, the project demonstrated the value of a comprehensive UX strategy that prioritizes user needs and iterative design.
